Absolutely STUNNING! The Christmas lights on our house from Light the land are nothing short of magical. My wife told me to get the Christmas lights up this last Christmas and I said “absolutely honey”! I instantly called Light the Land. We spoke with Matthew and he made it super easy to pick colors and get them placed! Thanks Matthew! I hate ladders…

Matt and his crew and nothing but professional and courteous. They were a pleasure to work with in the initial set up and the communication from scheduling to completion was top notch. This is the first year I decided to have a professional install and due to the experience I had with Matt and his team, it is the only place I will look to go to have this kind of service completed. Thanks Matt !!!

Snow Belt Lighting Is a Real Thing

Let’s start with the obvious: Chardon gets more snow than anywhere else in Ohio. Sitting on a 1,240-foot ridge about ten miles inland from Lake Erie, the town averages north of 100 inches a year, and the 1996 storm that dropped roughly six feet in four days is still the benchmark. Chardon does not get a dusting. Chardon gets buried.

That is not a warning. That is the whole reason Christmas lights look better here than anywhere else in the county. Warm light on fresh lake-effect snow, up around the Square where the courthouse has stood since 1869 — there is no better setting in Northeast Ohio.

If you have ever hung your own lights in Chardon, you know how the season goes. You put them up on a mild November weekend. By the second week of December there is a foot of snow on the roof, an ice dam at the eave, and one strand hanging loose over the porch that you are absolutely not getting a ladder out for.

A few things change when a job is built for this climate. Clips sized right and seated right, so fasteners hold through a January thaw-and-refreeze cycle. Minleon commercial-grade LEDs rather than big-box strands that go dark in sections after one snow load. And a crew that comes back to take it all down, so there is no February ladder work on an icy driveway.

Chardon is not one kind of house, either. Near the Square, the older homes sit closer together along sidewalks — Colonial Revivals, Foursquares, century homes with front porches facing the green. Those light beautifully with a clean roofline, wrapped porch columns and garland on the rail, because the whole street reads as one picture. Head out toward the township and it changes completely: long driveways, open fields, oaks and pines, homes set well back off Route 6 or Route 44. Out there the design has to carry farther — roofline plus lit trees and walkway work, so the property reads from the road instead of vanishing behind the treeline.

Either way we design the full package: rooflines, peaks, gables, windows, columns, porch railings, walkways, trees, shrubs, wreaths, garland and custom pattern designs.

Everything is clipped. Nothing is nailed. Every strand hangs on plastic clips sized to your shingles and gutters. Nothing is nailed, screwed or stapled into fascia — ever.

You lease the lights — you never buy them. Light The Land owns them. Design, installation, mid-season service, takedown after the holidays and climate-controlled labeled storage between seasons are all included. Nothing ends up in your garage. Year-to-year, three-year and five-year agreements are available, and the longer agreements come with discounted rates and priority scheduling. If you ever decide not to renew, the lights simply come back to us.

Lifetime warranty on all parts. Anything that fails or wears out gets replaced — the only exceptions being damage from pets, misuse or accidents.

Free same-day estimate. We measure your roofline with satellite software, so you get a real number the same day you call. Nobody has to be home. A deposit and a signed agreement hold your date, and installations start around Halloween.

We are a small local crew out of Berea, now in our third season with more than 50 homes installed, and fully insured.
