Absolutely STUNNING! The Christmas lights on our house from Light the land are nothing short of magical. My wife told me to get the Christmas lights up this last Christmas and I said “absolutely honey”! I instantly called Light the Land. We spoke with Matthew and he made it super easy to pick colors and get them placed! Thanks Matthew! I hate ladders…

Matt and his crew and nothing but professional and courteous. They were a pleasure to work with in the initial set up and the communication from scheduling to completion was top notch. This is the first year I decided to have a professional install and due to the experience I had with Matt and his team, it is the only place I will look to go to have this kind of service completed. Thanks Matt !!!

Why These Homes Are Harder to Light — and Why That’s Good News

Cleveland Heights is one of the only places in Northeast Ohio where you can walk three blocks and pass a half-timbered Tudor Revival, a slate-roofed center-hall Colonial, and a French Norman cottage from the Rockefeller-era Forest Hill plan. The Euclid Golf allotment was laid out in 1913 on the front nine of John D. Rockefeller’s old golf course, with curving streets feeding Fairmount Boulevard and houses custom-designed one at a time. Ambler Heights, Cedar-Fairmount, Coventry, Fairfax — these are century homes with real bones, built by people who cared what the front of a house looked like from the street.

That is exactly the kind of house Christmas lights were invented for. It is also the kind of house that punishes a rushed job.

A Cleveland Heights elevation is rarely one clean line. You get three or four gables on a single face, dormers punched into a steep roof, a third floor, deep overhanging eaves, brick and stucco, leaded glass, and a front porch with real columns. Pitches run steep, and a lot of these roofs are original slate or clay tile — beautiful, expensive, and easy to crack if somebody walks them in November.

So we design around it. On slate and tile homes we build the light into the gutter line, the eave edge, the window frames, the porch columns and the railings rather than treating the roof field like a walkway. Nothing is nailed, screwed or stapled into your fascia — on a house that has stood since the 1920s, that matters more here than almost anywhere else we work.

The payoff is that lots in Cleveland Heights are tall and narrow, and homes sit close together and close to the sidewalk. Every gable you outline reads instantly from the street. A well-lit Tudor on a Heights block does not blend in — it stops traffic.

We design the whole front of the house, not just a strip along the roof: rooflines, peaks, gables, dormered faces, windows, columns and porch railings, plus walkways, trees, shrubs, wreaths and garland. Minleon commercial-grade LEDs also let us run custom pattern designs rather than one static colour — worth using on a house with this much architecture to work with.

Everything is clipped. Nothing is nailed. Every strand hangs on plastic clips sized to your shingles and gutters. Nothing is nailed, screwed or stapled into fascia — ever.

You lease the lights — you never buy them. Light The Land owns them. Design, installation, mid-season service, takedown after the holidays and climate-controlled labeled storage between seasons are all included. Nothing ends up in your garage. Year-to-year, three-year and five-year agreements are available, and the longer agreements come with discounted rates and priority scheduling. If you ever decide not to renew, the lights simply come back to us.

Lifetime warranty on all parts. Anything that fails or wears out gets replaced — the only exceptions being damage from pets, misuse or accidents.

Free same-day estimate. We measure your roofline with satellite software, so you get a real number the same day you call. Nobody has to be home. A deposit and a signed agreement hold your date, and installations start around Halloween.

We are a small local crew out of Berea, now in our third season with more than 50 homes installed, and fully insured.
