Absolutely STUNNING! The Christmas lights on our house from Light the land are nothing short of magical. My wife told me to get the Christmas lights up this last Christmas and I said “absolutely honey”! I instantly called Light the Land. We spoke with Matthew and he made it super easy to pick colors and get them placed! Thanks Matthew! I hate ladders…

Matt and his crew and nothing but professional and courteous. They were a pleasure to work with in the initial set up and the communication from scheduling to completion was top notch. This is the first year I decided to have a professional install and due to the experience I had with Matt and his team, it is the only place I will look to go to have this kind of service completed. Thanks Matt !!!

Lighting Hudson’s Housing Stock, Village and Estate

There is no town in Northeast Ohio where holiday lighting is held to a higher standard than Hudson. You have a village green with a 1912 clock tower on it, a Greek Revival and Victorian historic district on the National Register, Western Reserve Academy’s campus running up College Street, and a Holiday Walk at First & Main every December that sets the tone for the whole season.

When your town looks like that in December, your house has to hold up its end.

The historic village. Along Aurora, Streetsboro, Church, College, Division and Oviatt streets you are dealing with homes built from the 1840s through the 1890s — late Greek Revival with heavy cornices and returns, Gothic Revival gables, Italianate brackets, Queen Anne turrets and wraparound porches. These are steep, tall, detail-heavy elevations with fascia older than the state’s modern building code. Nothing we do gets nailed, screwed or stapled into it. Ever.

Plenty of these roofs are slate, which is beautiful, expensive and easy to crack if somebody walks it in November. On slate and tile homes we build the light into the gutter line, the eave edge, the window frames, the porch columns and the railings rather than treating the roof field like a walkway.

Design-wise, restraint wins on these houses. Clean warm-white rooflines, one crisp accent on the peak, garland and wreaths at the entry, and let the architecture do the talking. Historic Hudson does not want a carnival — it wants precision.

The estates and newer neighborhoods. Out along Hines Hill, Barlow, Stow Road and the wooded subdivisions past the village center it is a different job entirely: large custom homes on acreage, set well back behind mature hardwoods, with complex rooflines, multiple gables and dormers, stone chimneys and three-story elevations. Here the roofline alone often cannot be seen from the road. That is where wrapped trees, lit driveway approaches, columns, porch railings and window outlines earn their keep — building a display that reads at distance instead of disappearing into the trees.

Everything is clipped. Nothing is nailed. Every strand hangs on plastic clips sized to your shingles and gutters. Nothing is nailed, screwed or stapled into fascia — ever.

You lease the lights — you never buy them. Light The Land owns them. Design, installation, mid-season service, takedown after the holidays and climate-controlled labeled storage between seasons are all included. Nothing ends up in your garage. Year-to-year, three-year and five-year agreements are available, and the longer agreements come with discounted rates and priority scheduling. If you ever decide not to renew, the lights simply come back to us.

Lifetime warranty on all parts. Anything that fails or wears out gets replaced — the only exceptions being damage from pets, misuse or accidents.

Free same-day estimate. We measure your roofline with satellite software, so you get a real number the same day you call. Nobody has to be home. A deposit and a signed agreement hold your date, and installations start around Halloween.

We are a small local crew out of Berea, now in our third season with more than 50 homes installed, and fully insured.
