Absolutely STUNNING! The Christmas lights on our house from Light the land are nothing short of magical. My wife told me to get the Christmas lights up this last Christmas and I said “absolutely honey”! I instantly called Light the Land. We spoke with Matthew and he made it super easy to pick colors and get them placed! Thanks Matthew! I hate ladders…

Matt and his crew and nothing but professional and courteous. They were a pleasure to work with in the initial set up and the communication from scheduling to completion was top notch. This is the first year I decided to have a professional install and due to the experience I had with Matt and his team, it is the only place I will look to go to have this kind of service completed. Thanks Matt !!!

Big Lots, Dark Roads, and a Display That Carries

Here is what makes Hinckley genuinely different: it is dark. Twenty-seven square miles of Medina County township, no incorporated village, no sidewalks on most roads, and very little street lighting once you are off the main stretches of Ridge, Bellus, State and Center. Drive Ridge Road at six o’clock in December and it is tree line, tree line, tree line — and then somebody’s house.

That is the opportunity. In a dense suburb your display competes with forty other displays. In Hinckley it is the only light on the road, and it carries for a quarter mile.

Hinckley homes sit on serious acreage, and the housing is a genuine mix — older rural homesteads and farmhouses that have been on their parcels for generations, sitting a half-mile from newer builds in developments like Rock Ridge Estates. Two very different lighting jobs on the same road.

On a deep lot, the front elevation alone is not enough. By the time a car is close enough to appreciate your gable trim, they have already passed you. So the design starts at the road: the driveway approach, the big specimen trees near the mailbox, the evergreens along the drive. Wrapping a mature spruce is the single highest-impact thing you can do on a property like this, and it is also the thing no homeowner should attempt on an extension ladder in a Medina County wind.

Then the house itself. Older farmhouse-style homes here often have simple, tall gable ends with porches running the width of the front — light the porch roof, the posts and the railings and you have made the whole structure read. Newer construction gives more roof planes to work with and usually a three-car garage face that anchors one end of the display.

The ledges and higher ground around Hinckley Reservation do not get the same weather as the flatter suburbs closer to the lake. Wind, ice load and freeze-thaw are all harder on a display out here, which is why we use Minleon commercial-grade LEDs rather than the stuff that comes in a box.

Everything is clipped. Nothing is nailed. Every strand hangs on plastic clips sized to your shingles and gutters. Nothing is nailed, screwed or stapled into fascia — ever.

You lease the lights — you never buy them. Light The Land owns them. Design, installation, mid-season service, takedown after the holidays and climate-controlled labeled storage between seasons are all included. Nothing ends up in your garage. Year-to-year, three-year and five-year agreements are available, and the longer agreements come with discounted rates and priority scheduling. If you ever decide not to renew, the lights simply come back to us.

Lifetime warranty on all parts. Anything that fails or wears out gets replaced — the only exceptions being damage from pets, misuse or accidents.

Free same-day estimate. We measure your roofline with satellite software, so you get a real number the same day you call. Nobody has to be home. A deposit and a signed agreement hold your date, and installations start around Halloween.

We are a small local crew out of Berea, now in our third season with more than 50 homes installed, and fully insured.
